Sunrise, communities and more.
Originally known as Sunrise Golf Village, the City of Sunrise was incorporated in 1961 by Norman Johnson, a developer whose model homes attracted buyers to the western edge of Broward County. In 1971 the city changed its name to the City of Sunrise.
Until today sunrise remained a suburban city with warm inviting neighborhoods. The city of Sunrise is 20 miles inland from the Fort Lauderdale and is a home to the world-famous Sawgrass Mills outlet mall.
Here, residents enjoy the great outdoors with neighborhood and city parks, green space and large facilities with soccer fields, Olympic swimming pools, and bike trails. The Real Estate Market is compiled of single-family homes, lake front and dry land with tropical landscape, condos, apartments and townhomes. All range from affordable to luxury.
