Frederick Peters, the founder of Plantation came with his family to South Florida to escape the harsh winters Midwest. He started with 10,000 acres and hired the architect Russell Pancoast to draw the city plan. The first construction took place on East Acre Drive by Chauncey Clark.
The city was incorporated in 1953 and is nestled west of Ft. Lauderdale. The population today is over 91,000 with diverse cultures. While Plantation is projecting the small-town feel it is slowly growing and is offering great amenities today.
Residents of Plantation enjoy the parks and recreation, golf clubs, shopping, a large variety of restaurants and bars, Farmers Markets on the weekends and many local activities such as movie nights at the park, outdoor concerts, food trucks and more.
