Dania Beach

Broward County’s First City

Dating back to the 1880’s, a railroad line was placed through the area. The developer W.C. Valentine began the settlement Modello, and 12 Danish families from Chicago settled there in 1898-99. A few years later more Danes arrived to colonize the settlement. A.C. Frost built the first home, first general store and the first schools.

The town was incorporated in November of 1904 with 35 residents who were mostly Danes, and then changed its name to Dania. Today the city’s population is over 31,000.

There are a few historic properties in Dania Beach from the 1900’s like the Martin C. Frost residence, Nyberg-Swanson House and Bank of Dania.

Other than historic buildings Dania Beach offers a beautiful beach with a pier, parks, casino and a marina. The newest addition to the city is Dania Pointe, where you can shop, dine and go to the movies.

Real Estate in Dania Beach is made up of single family homes, condos and apartments. Some of the neighborhoods in Dania Beach are:

  • Royal Palm Vista
  • Davis Isles
